Safety
Complication pathway prevention: safety from exam to recovery
Complication pathway prevention means managing risk at every stage, from your first exam to long after surgery. Sky Eye Clinic sets corneal thickness limits, confirms them with a precision exam, and does not operate if they are not met. Aftercare continues once you are home.
Residual corneal thickness standards
The cornea must stay thick enough after laser correction. The clinic checks your corneal thickness in a precision exam first. If the standard is not met, surgery does not go ahead.
| Standard | Residual corneal thickness |
|---|---|
| US FDA surgery standard | 250 micrometers or more, excluding the flap |
| Sky Eye Clinic LASIK standard | 300 micrometers or more, excluding the flap |
| Sky Eye Clinic LASEK standard | 380 micrometers or more, including the epithelium |
Depending on your eye, re-correction after LASEK may not be possible if too little cornea remains.
Care from exam to recovery
Medical staff look after you at each stage: examination, surgery and care. The aim is to prepare for side effects that can occur before and after surgery.
- Examination: a precision exam checks corneal thickness and other factors.
- Surgery: performed only when your eyes meet the standards.
- Care: consistent aftercare keeps track of your vision after surgery.
If your vision drops after surgery
The clinic keeps managing your vision after surgery. If vision decreases and your cornea is suitable, the clinic performs enhancement surgery.
If you notice discomfort in daily life after surgery, the customer service team gives emergency support through the clinic's KakaoTalk channel. The LASIK and LASEK pre and post-op guide lists what to expect.
