Smart Nova LASIK in Korea: CenTrax correction for safer docking

Smart Nova LASIK is an upgrade of New SMILE LASIK that adds the CenTrax treatment mode. CenTrax corrects eye rotation and docking errors that can occur or remain during surgery. If you are searching for Smart Nova LASIK in Korea, here is how it works and who it suits.

What Smart Nova LASIK is

Smart Nova LASIK builds on New SMILE LASIK. It adds CenTrax, a treatment mode that actively corrects residual errors so the laser docks to your eye more precisely.

Docking is the step where the laser attaches to the eye. Small errors can occur or remain at this stage. CenTrax compensates for them, which is why the clinic describes the procedure as safer and more accurate. It runs on the ATOS Nova Centrax laser, listed on our equipment page.

How the procedure works

  1. Correct rotation and docking errors

CenTrax measures eye rotation (cyclotorsion) and corrects docking error.

  2. Cut the lenticule

The ATOS laser cuts a lens-shaped piece of corneal tissue, called a lenticule, inside the cornea.

  3. Make a 2mm micro-incision

A very small opening is made on the corneal surface.

  4. Remove the tissue

The surgeon removes the lenticule through the 2mm opening.

There is no large flap. For the same procedure without CenTrax, see New SMILE LASIK.

What the equipment adds

  • Automatic center correction: CenTrax actively corrects eye movement after docking, compensating for errors that could remain after surgery.
  • Low-energy laser: low pulse energy and an asymmetric spot arrangement deliver less energy to the cornea, which supports faster recovery.
  • Finer input units: refraction values are entered in steps of 0.05D for one-to-one personalised correction.
  • Biometry integration: the system links automatically with ocular biometry equipment, so surgical planning reflects your individual eye.
  • Pressure control: the clinic lists prevention of excessive intraocular pressure rise among its features.
  • Faster laser: a 4MHz laser and an improved lenticule design are part of the system.

Questions answered

What is the difference between Smart Nova LASIK and New SMILE LASIK?

Smart Nova LASIK adds the CenTrax treatment mode to New SMILE LASIK. CenTrax corrects eye rotation and docking errors, and the system also uses finer 0.05D refraction input and automatic biometry integration.

What does CenTrax do?

CenTrax corrects eye cyclotorsion and docking error through automated eye-movement correction. It compensates for residual errors that can occur or remain during docking.

How big is the incision?

The surgeon removes the corneal tissue through a 2mm micro-incision on the corneal surface.

Who is Smart Nova LASIK recommended for?

The clinic recommends it for people who want precise, safe surgery, worry about residual refraction, halos, side effects or pain, have high myopia with thin corneas, or want precise astigmatism correction.
